*The work is based on a performative act of tearing the canvas, like the fabric of time, creating an unconscious image as a collage foundation for painting.

About the method:

"Torn edges.
Those who know me might say I never forget anything. But my memory betrays me. It inserts things that never happened, smooths over what did: it aches, it tempts, it reshuffles. Some things shrink to something painfully small; others swell to unjustified proportions. The fleeting — a crumpled bed, a running tap, a scar on a palm — becomes a container locking in years. A good memory allows me to design elaborate, layered traps.
Working with torn canvas, I observe from the outside how what I’ve made disguises itself as photo print, and how that print poses as fiction — as my stubborn memory. I want to rearrange the past, tear it open and put it back together differently. Let it set again.
There is no memory without my interference, and though it betrays me, I am its binding tissue. It can’t manage without me".
